Ghana’s Jubilee Competition Platform Gets Underway

The Republic of Ghana is a country in West Africa with a population of approximately 27 million. Rich in natural resources, those reserves have historically been the backbone of the Ghana’s economy. However, there is an economic plan in place known as Ghana Vision 2020. It lays out steps for Ghana to be the first African country to become a developed country between 2020 and 2029 and a newly industrialized nation between 2030 and 2039.

Part of that process will be encouraging technological innovation. Recently, the Planning Committee for what’s called the Ghana at 60 Anniversary announced a competition platform referred to as the Jubilee Innovation Challenge. Registration Opens for DOM Environmental Online Contest Management

 

DOM is a word inspired by the idea of continuity and sustainability in Arabic. Launched by Youth Vision, the online contest management is focused on raising environmental awareness in the country of Oman. For those familiar with the name but not its geographic location, Oman is on the Persian Gulf and is bordered by the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the southwest. It has marine borders in common with Iran and Pakistan.

Organizers want the event to help promote a socio-environmental culture by challenging young people to come up with innovative ideas for addressing local environmental issues in creative and sustainable ways. Supported and promoted by BP Oman, the event is the first of its kind in the country. Citi Launches Tech for Integrity Innovation Contest

Citi, the international banking organization, has launched the Citi Tech for Integrity Challenge (T4I). The innovation contest looks to encourage inventors and innovators worldwide to develop advanced solutions that will promote integrity, accountability, and transparency in public sector entities. Something that both the organizers and the entities themselves agree is lacking.

The challenge will provide organizations in the public sector with technology designed to make their operations more efficient and transparent. It is being presented as a joint effort among private and public sector partners that include PwC, Microsoft, Facebook, MasterCard, and IBM. High School Students Break New Ground in Northrop Grumman’s Innovation Competition Platform

The High School competition platform takes place from February through April each year and is hosted by select Northrop Grumman sites. It’s a design competition that in the past has challenged students to create remote-controlled airplanes, launcher systems, airships, and deployables. The event promotes STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and encourages students to discover the interesting and rewarding aspects of these disciplines.
